Contribution of geophysics on the
tectonic evolution of Paraná basin
Chair: Silvia Rolim, UFRGS
Success, unsuccessful and challenge of
geophysics to mineral exploration
Chair: Florivaldo Sena, Vale
The session will focus case histories of exploration effort, success, deceptions, or excellent targets that now are unexplained anomalies that could be excellent challenge for solutions. This special session will join academics and industry people to discuss ambiguities, undesirable or desirable results with the objective to present new themes for research and creative solutions to geophysics in the mineral exploration. Papers and conferences will be presented about the theme.
Seismic Technologies for Fluid Definition and Monitoring -
A Tribute to Antônio Carlos Buginga Ramos
Co-Chairs: Neiva Zago, Petrobras and Paulo Johann, Petrobras
Space Geophysics
Co-Chairs: Eurico R. de Paula, INPE and Clezio Marcos De Nardin, INPE
Tectonic Evolution, Architecture and Depositional
Processes of Passive Continental Margins
Co-Chairs: Cleverson Guizan, Lagemar/UFF and Tadeu Reis, UERJ
In this thematic section we intend to focus on tectonic and sedimentary processes of passive continental margins based on geophysical and geological data. The primary aim is to discuss the spatio-temporal evolution of the tectonic framework and sedimentary systems of passive continental margins (continental shelf, slope and rise) integrating study contributions in variable spatial and temporal scales.
Fifth Workshop on Low Latitude Aeronomy
Co-Chairs: Eurico R. de Paula, INPE and Clezio Marcos De Nardin, INPE
The main goal of this workshop is to open a forum for Brazilian and international scientists in the area of Equatorial and Low Latitude Aeronomy to discuss the topics of atmospheric dynamics, coupling processes from lower to upper atmosphere and ionosphere, magnetic storms effects, and space climatology. Specific interests will be addressed to gravity wave activity in the mesosphere, atmospheric electricity, plasma irregularity generation and propagation and its effects on telecommunications, GPS applications to atmospheric sciences including tropospheric and ionospheric processes, new techniques and instrumentation for aeronomical observations.
Workshop on Seismic Imaging – in Tribute to Sergey Goldin
Co-Chairs: Martin Tygel (Unicamp) and Bjorn Ursin (NTNU)
Sergey Goldin is recognized as one of the giants of Seismic Imaging, having formed or inspired a whole generation of geophysicists of extraordinary impact at the international community. Sergey Goldin was a member of the Russian Science Academy, working most of the time in Akademgorodok, the city of scientists, in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Goldin was extremely influential in research and teaching of Geophysics. It is a honor for us that he has participated as one of the distinguished visiting lecturers of the Seismic Exploration Program at PPPG/UFBa and has become, as so many other participants, a good friend of Brazil. Sergey Goldin passed away in 2007, letting behind a lot of good memories worldwide and also among us. In this Workshop, we make a tribute to Sergey Goldin, by means of a series of talks in the area of his dearest subject, Seismic Imaging. Many of these talks are presented by former students of followers of his fruitful contributions.
